Shinji Mikami made a name for himself thanks to his work when he was at Capcom, since he directed the first Resident Evil, the GameCube remake and above all, he was the Resident Evil 4 director, which has become a classic. While at Tango Gameworks, Mikami oversaw projects ranging from The Evil Within games, Ghostwire Tokyo, to the recently released Hi-Fi Rush.
Yesterday, the TrueAchievementes account said they saw an email from Todd Vaughn, the senior president of Bethesda, addressed to all Zenimax employees, informing that Shinji Mikami will no longer be the head of the Tango Gameworks studio. Hours later, the official Bethesda social media account confirmed the news with the following statement:
“We can confirm that Shinji Mikami has decided to leave Tango Gameworks in the following months“, So says the statement from Bethesda, where the company thanks him for his work as a creative leader and mentor for young developers of The Evil Within franchise, at Ghostwire Tokyo and recently at Hi-Fi Rush.
“We wish Mikami-San well in the future and are excited for what lies ahead for the talented developers at Tango.is the last thing Bethesda’s statement says. Although it is confirmed that Shinji Mikami will leave Tango Gameworks after 12 months of establishing the studio, it is also confirmed that his departure will take place in the following months and that he is preparing for the transition.
