With the announcement of a date for the next Bethesda star field Direct event, we also received confirmation of when Xbox’s big summer conference will land in 2023. Yes, the annual Xbox Games Showcase will take place on June 11 this year, and now that it’s firmly marked on our calendars, we started thinking about what Xbox could boast.
Recent reports suggest that the next big Xbox games to be released after the scheduled lineup for 2023 are Declared and Hellblade 2. The first of these is still shrouded in secrecy at this point, and we’d definitely appreciate more information on the RPG Obsidian at the Xbox Summer Show.
As for Hellblade 2, we’re not sure what to expect. Historically, Ninja Theory has brought this to The Game Awards, so it might still be the case this year… who knows? Anyway, we expect to see the last game in 2024 and we certainly wouldn’t be against a good summer performance this year.
A title that will surely appear in June is more the new Forza Motorsport, unless we find out beforehand. After January’s Developer Direct couldn’t provide a release date, we believe Turn 10 needs bring this information throughout this summer. Either way, we can’t wait to see what the team has created over the past six years, and we shouldn’t have to wait much longer!
Now, we’re going to throw in one last curveball here as a potential summer showcase title: Smuggling. This Xbox + Avalanche Studios project was teased at the 2021 show and we still know next to nothing about it. Will 2023 be the year of his big comeback? We hope so, to be honest, because we would like to at least see the game in action.
