‘Can you run Crysis?’ The famous phrase was thrown around like no one cared about 15 years ago, when Crytek’s first game, Crysis, put PCs around the world to the test. In the years that followed, two sequels arrived, certainly more aimed at console gamers, before the series was left in stasis for some time. The question is: what will we see from the return of Crysis?
Believe it or not, it was 10 years a day since Crysis 3 arrived on Xbox at the end of the 360 generation. 10 years! At the time, Microsoft’s seventh-generation console could barely handle what Crytek was offering with its third series entry, and we think the team could unleash something really special on Xbox Series X and S. We know that they are working on crisis 4 it’s a trendy thing and all we can say is: go for it!
The Crytek engine has long been known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to visuals, but available hardware has generally never kept up with it. Of course the Crysis Trilogy Remastered This at least fixed the glaring problems with Crysis on Xbox 360, but these were still games designed for seventh-gen consoles and we can only imagine what the team could cook up for systems in the game. current generation.
Moving on to the visuals for a moment, the Crysis games are actually very solid first-person shooters. Of course, there’s nothing totally revolutionary about them when it comes to real shotbut each game in the series offered a different take on FPS to make for a pretty fun trilogy overall.
Crysis was fairly open-ended in nature, with the island environment providing a massive physics-powered playground. crisis 2The setting was more linear, but seeing a fully reclaimed New York City never got old. And then Crysis 3’s crossbow and tall grass combination was almost iconic – we can still see that incredible foliage swirling in the wind to this day!
And you know what, we think we’re more than ready for Crysis 4 at this point. If Crytek can combine the freer nature of Crysis 1 with the ridiculously awesome action of 2 and 3, Crysis 4 could be something truly impressive. Xbox Series X and S have finally delivered hardware that can be properly paired with a new Crysis game; we just need Crytek to finally deliver the goods.
