After a long wait, System Shock has announced its PC release date, which will be next May 30. The long-awaited remake has suffered several delays and had even been assured that it would be released at the end of March, but for some reasons that Nightdive did not detail, it will not be so.
This remake combines the systems of the original 1994 game, with new visual effects with better definition, new controls, with a completely modified interface and sound improvements, as well as a new soundtrack. New enemies have also been added along with new bloodier combat options with the brutal dismemberment system. Finally, the hacking system has been revamped and quality adjustments have been implemented in the dynamic gameplay.
Players must face the villain of the story Shodan. To defeat him, they will have to fight their way through the new areas of Citadel Station, facing traps, puzzles and mysteries. These will test your skills whether you are a veteran franchise player or a new player.
The PC version can now be pre-ordered on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. For first-time buyers, a free copy of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition will also be available. The new demo released at Steam Next Fest can be found in the same stores.
For the versions of the rest of the confirmed platforms (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Series), we will have to wait for confirmation of their launch.
