New steam charts: After Valheim was ousted from the top position for the first time on Easter weekend, a new champion sits on the throne of the bestseller list with the loot shooter Outriders.
It will be particularly exciting this time away from the top positions: With the Euro Truck Simulator 2, a simulation favorite returns to the Steam Charts after a long absence. And for a good reason.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 goes full throttle
Actually, it was never really gone, because Euro Truck Simulator 2 has been one of the best games according to user ratings for years. But now it is fully back: on Sunday, April 11, 2021, over 60,000 people played the relaxed truck simulation and transported virtual goods from A to B at the same time – more players than there has been for a year.
Where does the new hype come from? Although the ETS 2 has already been around for over eight years, the title continues to be diligently supplied with large and small updates. Recently, developer SCS Software released version 1.40, one of the most extensive patches to date.
What’s in this new big update? This not only includes a completely new lighting system, but also the last part of the Germany Reskin project: Because Germany was one of the first countries to be integrated in the game, motorways and cities there looked a bit old-fashioned compared with the new content.
A small team has now revised a large part of the map over several months so that West German cities like Cologne, Düsseldorf and Dortmund can shine in new splendor.
But there is also something new to discover in the rest of the republic, as Federal Motorway 7 was added in the south.
You can see all the new features in the trailer.
The latest paid DLC Iberia was also released last week: With the expansion, truckers can now also drive on the Iberian Peninsula and do their laps in Spain and Portugal.
What else is going on in the Steam Charts?
Also surprising: Just behind Outriders is the new co-op game It Takes Two from EA. We think the placement is deserved – after all, Josef Fares’ new title was completely convincing in our test.
In the other places there are many old friends: The still best racing game Forza Horizon 4 is still in the top 3.
Valheim, however, continues to crash and is only in seventh place. Cyberpunk 2077 can no longer be found in the bestsellers for the first time, despite the major patch 1.2.
