We finally have the Starfield release date, with the next RPG set to release later than expected, but still hopefully by 2023. As we prepare to join Constellation and explore New Atlantis, thousands of players from Starfield are signing a petition calling on Skyrim and Fallout developer Bethesda to expand its localization efforts by adding Arabic language support to the upcoming Space Odyssey.
As of this writing, the Starfield Arabic Support petition has garnered over 3,400 signatures in just five days. Speaking directly to Bethesda, the description of the petition states that “We the Arab players would like you to kindly add the Arabic language to the Starfield game. It doesn’t matter if the language is immediately after release or two months after… thanks.
According to the Starfield Steam page, the game will offer full or subtitled audio support for ten languages, including Russian, Chinese, and Japanese. However, Arabic is not on the list. Bethesda’s RPGs Skyrim and Fallout 4 also do not offer Arabic language support.
Supposedly with over 250,000 lines of spoken dialogue, from what we know of Starfield so far, the game will feature a massive world, story, and script. However, other RPGs offer support for the Arabic language. Hogwarts Legacy features an Arabic interface and subtitles, just like The Witcher 3 and the expansive Cyberpunk 2077.
“There are over 360 million Arabic speakers in the world,” writes a signer of the Starfield petition. “A game like Starfield, an epic space odyssey, should be shared by all of humanity in as many languages as reasonably possible.” “Games should be accessible to everyone, no matter where they come from,” says another. We hope to learn a lot more about Starfield during the game’s dedicated showcase on June 11th.
