The Japanese giant would be really interested in acquiring Square-Enix.

Those who follow the world of video games with some attention know all too well how for some time now they are talking on several occasions about the new acquisitions in store at Sony PlayStation with some rumors suggesting the acquisition of Square Enix.

But despite these rumors, at least at the time of writing this article we have not yet had official communications about it, with the Japanese giant that has limited itself to announcing the complete acquisition of Bungie in recent days.

Sony seems to be really intent on acquiring Square Enix

And after a period of relative calm, thanks to a new interview with Stephane D’Astous, co-founder of Eidos Montrealpublished by GamesIndustry, a very interesting and not insignificant detail has emerged online: Sony PlayStation really intends to acquire Square Enix!

The good D’Astous he also stated that the company from the country of the Land of the Rising Sun certainly wants to complete this operation, but is really interested exclusively in Japanese division from Square Enix which is why the company would have decided to sell off ad Embracer Group its Western development teams, such as Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal.

Below you can take a look at the statements shared by Stephane D’Astous:

“If I read between the lines, I would say that Square Enix Japan hasn’t been as busy on Western teams as we initially hoped. There were also various rumors, among all these merger and acquisition activities, that Sony really wanted to have Square Enix as part of their family.

I’ve heard rumors that Sony was really interested in Square Enix Tokyo, but not the rest of the publisher. So I think Matsuda-san has set up some sort of garage sale“.
