Sons of the Forest Steam release appears to have gone well for developer Endnight as the new survival game climbs the Valve Store charts, beating Rust, No Man’s Sky, Rainbow Six Siege and other multiplayer mainstays by more in one day. Whether you’ve already crashed in the jungle or are still sharpening your stone axes with your friends and preparing to survive, you’re sure not to be alone as Sons of the Forest gathers hundreds of thousands of players for its first game. 24 hours.
With its February 23 release, Sons of the Forest has already reached an all-time Steam player count of 269,563. Previously the most searched game on Valve’s platform, ahead of even Starfield, Sons of the Forest is now at number 31 on SteamDB. chart of the 100 most played games of all time. For comparison, Payday 2 is at number 35, with an all-time high player base of 247,709. Just below that, Rust’s all-time high concurrent user is 245,243.
Also in its first day, Sons of the Forest even broke Rainbow Six Siege’s record for concurrent users, which currently stands at 201,053. Left 4 Dead 2, Fall Guys, and Rocket League were also beaten by the game Horror from Endnight. If you plan on having fun (fun in the sense of being hacked to death by mutants in the freezing cold and pouring rain), be prepared with the Sons of the Forest locations and map size.
Endnight is still working on Sons of the Forest, choosing to release the game partially unfinished and gradually updating it based on player feedback. “There’s still a lot more we want to add,” the developer explains, “items, new mechanics, game balance, and more.” A release date for the game’s first patch has yet to be confirmed, but if you’ve experienced any technical issues so far, we hope fixes will arrive soon.
