Sonic the Hedgehog games have been of very mixed quality over the years, and it’s pretty safe to say that we’ve had as many bad games as good ones. Luckily, Sonic Frontiers turned out to be a member of the latter, and became very popular when it was released last November.
Until now, we don’t know exactly how it has gone in terms of sales (at least since the last report in December), but during Sega’s last quarterly report, it was revealed that “the number of units sold for Sonic Frontiers far exceeded our ‘original’ estimate. This is not only good news for Sega, but also for us gamers, as Sega explains that for the next Sonic title, “they are proceeding with a larger budget, even from the basic research prototyping phase”.
What do you think of Sonic Frontiers? Is this an open world concept that Sonic Team should explore further?
