Event news Showcase Resident Evil: RE Village, the 25 years of the saga, we tell you everything
Everything, everything, everything, you will know everything about Resident Evil Village. Well almost. Capcom organized on the night of Thursday, January 21 an event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its famous franchise. Presented by Brittney Brombacher, the co-founder of What’s Good Game, the showcase injected as agreed a large dose of Resident Evil Village, but also some surprises. Play the music from the backup room in the background, it’s time for you to quietly read our summary of the main announcements.
Resident Evil Village: New Trailer, Demo, and Info
The event kicked off with a new trailer for Capcom’s star game Resident Evil Village. We find Ethan and his beloved, Mia, a few years after the adventures of Resident Evil VII. Now under the protection of the BSAA, an NGO fighting against bioterrorism, the couple are trying to lead a peaceful existence despite the traumatic case that occurred at the Baker’s. A quiet facade that will quickly be interrupted by a hero well known to fans of the series: Chris Redfield.
Searching for his kidnapped daughter, Ethan finds himself in a snowy village that seems to meet all the criteria to be featured on Randonautica, and we don’t say that because of the many scarecrows worthy of the Jeepers Creepers. Having managed to escape a certain Heisenberg, Ethan infiltrates a mysterious castle belonging to a lady whose elegance we imagine hides a part of monstrosity. The latter is seen, in a sequence of the video, addressing a certain “Mother Miranda”About an upcoming ceremony. Yes, the shadow of witchcraft still hangs over this Resident Evil. The rest of the trailer dwells on different parts of the mansion, from the luxurious Gothic-style reception hall to the dismal basements infested with hooded creatures.. It should be noted that in the corridors of the house lurk three girls capable of turning into swarms of voracious flies. Chic then!
During a gameplay demonstration, Pete Fabiano, game producer who was already in this position for Resident Evil VII and the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, presented various details of the adventure. In accordance with what was achieved with the previous episode, Village maintains the view in the first person, except that here virtual reality is not mentioned. According to the Japanese firm, this allows “to draw players into the detailed world that has been designed”. It must be recognized that the small stroll taken by the demonstrator exposes a castle as majestic as it is dismal, with walls covered with golden ornaments. A place reminiscent in many ways of the lost Ashfords’ private residence on Rockfort Island in Code: Veronica. At one point in the demonstration, Ethan walks through a dark basement in the company of humanoid creatures. If fear doesn’t kill him, these monsters want to take care of it! Ethan is not only able to slow down his opponents by using his weapons to damage or disarm them, but he can also warn and avoid losing too many health points during attacks.. He can also directly repel his enemies.
“Each type of opponent has its own way of fighting, so you will need to choose the right strategy”Explains the producer, while on the screen, species of werewolves of different sizes charge the player. Fortunately, the explosive barrels are always there to cool the heat while warming the body. On the inventory side, we find more or less that of Resident Evil 4 with boxes to be managed by nesting the weapons and other items collected as efficiently as possible. If the combinations of objects to create new ones belong to the codes of the franchise, Capcom has decided to take crafting a little further. According to the video, it is possible to craft ammunition and serums by mixing up to five types of items collected during the adventure. As far as weapons are concerned, we have so far seen a pistol, a shotgun, a sniper rifle and a knife, which is also useful for breaking windows, crates and pots in order to dig up some food. Since we’re talking about Resident Evil 4, know that the merchant is making a big comeback. Named Duke, he will be in different places in the village to sell you resources, weapons, or various upgrades.. Finally, Pete Fabiano mentions the presence of side quests and puzzles.
To brighten up the evening of the 25th anniversary of the series, Capcom is pulling out of its hat a playable demo of Resident Evil Village which has been available for several hours … only for owners of PlayStation 5. According to Pete Fabiano, it does not offer any confrontation, and mainly serves as a technical demo. We will come back to this demo in more detail very soon. If you only have a PC or an Xbox console, be aware that the Japanese publisher will offer another demo in the spring which will arrive this time on all platforms.
A release date, pre-orders and several editions for Resident Evil Village
Pete Fabiano took advantage of his presence at the showcase to announce that Resident Evil Village will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the same time as the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and PC versions.. The good news is that the old-gen editions (PS4, One) will provide access to the current-gen editions (PS5, Series X | S) via a free update. The other big information is that Resident Evil Village will be released on May 7, 2021, and that it can be pre-ordered today. As you can imagine, different packs are open for reservations. The Deluxe Edition contains in-game elements inspired by Resident Evil VII as well as an additional level of difficulty. The collector’s edition, meanwhile, is offered in a large box containing a Chris Redfield figurine, an artbook, a steelbook, a poster, and a download code giving access to all the elements of the deluxe edition. For latecomers, Capcom also announces a “Biohazard bundle”Including Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil VII. Pre-ordering any of these packs will give access to additional in-game content, such as a Mr Raccoon weapon enchantment, and various resources to make getting started easier (ammo, care kit, etc.). The players who decide to reserve their virtual cake on the PlayStation Store will benefit from some music of the game, to listen to during the rainy summer evenings while sipping a good serum.
RE: Verse, the multiplayer shoot with the heroes of the series
Who says birthday says surprise, right? Tsuyoshi Kanda, producer on Resident Evil Village, came to unveil RE: Verse, a multiplayer arena shooter (4 to 6 players) bringing together the heroes of the series. The unveiled video displays very colorful graphics offering a rendering close to cel shading. In the corridors of the Raccoon City police station, we find Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Hunk or even Ada Wong. When a hero is eliminated, they return as a biological weapon (the Nemesis, Jack Baker, etc.). Little information leaked out during the event, other than that the game will be offered to all Resident Evil Village buyers. Details should be released soon on official networks.
The Division 2 (Ubisoft Massive) takes on the colors of Resident Evil
Final announcement of this showcase dedicated to Resident Evil, Yannick Banchereau from Ubisoft (Massive Entertainment) reveals the arrival in The Division 2 of a whole lot of clothes and objects paying tribute to the heroes of Resident Evil. Players who log in during the event period will receive the Leon S. Kennedy costume as a welcome gift, while other content will be unlockable. The short video published showed the costumes of Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Rebecca Chambers or even Hunk. This strange partnership will begin on February 2, 2021 on the occasion of the event “Codename Nightmare” teas for a little while.
The license, which recently passed the 100 million softs mark sold worldwide, will therefore return on May 7, 2021 through Resident Evil Village. With comics, board games and even movies, the franchise has weight in popular culture. It is therefore no (bio) chance that the showcase ended with the presentation of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, a CGI animated film which will be broadcast this year on Netflix. We will follow Leon and Claire a few years after the events of Resident Evil 4. You will understand, to celebrate the 25 years of its fetish saga, Capcom plays on several grounds.
