Sea of Stars, the long-awaited turn-based RPG from Sabotage Studio, will be released on August 29. During the last Nintendo Direct, a new trailer was shown which shows off more of the retro aesthetic and music by composer Yasunori Mitsuda.

Inspired by classic RPGs like Illusion of Gaia and Breath of Fire, Sea of Stars is about children of the solstice, who can use Eclipse Magic. They travel the world, battling The Fleshmancer and his creations.

Combat is time-based: by pressing the action button at the right time, you can execute combos, deal more damage and take less.

There are no random encounters, and exploration involves jumping, climbing, swimming, and more. As the player progresses through the story, they will encounter “dozens” of characters with different story arcs. There are also activities like sailing, fishing, a board game called Wheels, cooking and more.

Sea of Stars is coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and PS5.
