the much desired Bloodborne PC Port It was apparently canceled after the developer behind it released a bad Horizon Zero Dawn PC port, according to a rumor from a Spanish YouTuber. The developer initially in charge of the PC port of Horizon was Virtuos, which is also implicated in rumored Metal Gear Solid 3 and Marvel’s Avengers remakes. As usual, we recommend taking this rumor with a grain of salt.
Guerrilla and Nixxes had to fix Horizon Zero Dawn’s PC port
The podcaster, known as BaityBait (yes, we know) who has over 160,000 subscribers on Twitch, explains what he heard about Bloodborne’s PC port on The Wild Project. Summarizing what he says, as translated by PlayStation LifeStyle, “he allegedly heard that from an unknown source Virtuos screwed up the PC port of Horizon and that Sony had to call in Guerrilla to fix it. And, in turn, Sony canceled the PC port of Bloodborne which was made by the same studio.
Sony, via Guerrilla, apparently contracted Virtuos to develop the PC port for Horizon Zero Dawn, as at the time they didn’t have much experience on how to do it. Horizon Zero Dawn was released on Steam in August 2020 and although it has a positive rating today, it received a good number of negative user reviews due to poor technical performance at launch. So if Virtuos were to develop the Bloodborne PC port as well, it would make sense that Sony turned down that project as well.
Over time, Guerrilla and Sony were able to fix Horizon’s PC port within months, and even brought Nixxes software to help with the game’s PC fixes in December 2021, just months after it was acquired by Sony.
Fans have been clamoring for a PC port of Bloodborne for years, and on Twitter, either Bloodborne itself or the Hashtag #FreeBloodborne trend has been observed on the platform. In September 2022, a source said FromSoftware was set to do a remaster of Bloodborne, but the studio is too busy (with Armored Core 6, no doubt).
