In addition to the remake of Resident Evil 4, fans of the Capcom franchise will be treated this year to Resident Evil: Death Island, a new animated feature film scheduled for summer 2023.

The waltz of adaptations continues! While all eyes are currently on the series The Last of Us, which is breaking audience records on HBO every week, the industry is seeing game adaptation projects multiply like hot cakes. One of the masters in the matter is none other than Capcom, which has already offered us many adaptations of Resident Evil in the past. And the publisher intends to continue on this path sincea new animated film has just been announced.

Capcom announces Resident Evil: Isle of the Dead

After the Netflix series was canceled last year, Capcom is giving us See you in the summer of 2023 for the release of Resident Evil: Death Island, which will once again feature the adventures of Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield. Directed by Eiichiro Hasumi (Assassination Classroom) with a screenplay by Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass), this film will take the hero of Resident Evil 4 to save Dr Antonio Taylor from his kidnappers while the BSAA agent leaves traces of an epidemic in San Francisco, whose origin seems to be linked to the island of Alcatraz.

While some additional details have yet to be revealed, the first trailer, however, suggests that this film will continue in the line of its predecessors, and in particular Resident Evil Vendetta, which will be the sequel. Also, while the latter had allowed fans to find the character of Rebecca Chambers, this one will mark the first appearance of Jill Valentine in animated films. Indeed, we can see the colleague and friend of Chris in the last seconds of the video, which should please many players.
