“When you hear the word ‘village’ you think of quaint houses along a street. But that’s not nearly enough to make a video game out of it. Especially in a horror game, it’s important to keep delivering new experiences. If it is within a village, it is important to keep delivering new surprises to the player,” said Game Director Morimasa Sato about one of the locations in Resident Evil 8 Village.

In an interview with IGN, Sato spoke about the scenario and the individual locations of the horror game.

In addition to Dimitrescu Castle, there is also a factory, windmills and a reservoir. The latter as well as the setting of a village make Resident Evil fans immediately think of Resident Evil 4.

In Resident Evil 8, too, the village should act as a central element of the game. In the reservoir there is also an oversized monster – similar to Del Lago in Resident Evil 4. In order for the setting of the village to become a lasting gaming experience, the characters are also important.

After Lady Dimitrescu made such an impression in the castle, there should be such characters in the village as well.

“When we were doing research in Europe in the spring, the scenario was atypical for the time of year. The scenery was covered in snow, which inspired us to create a snow-covered village. Snow will also play a role in the game in terms of gameplay.” Sato told IGN.

Mother Miranda will play an important role in Resident Evil village. Mother Miranda is worshiped by the villagers. The portrait on IGN shows Mother Miranda as a kind of deity in the village of Resident Evil 8 Village.

“With Mother Miranda it is better for the player if he experiences and finds out details for himself. Only this much: Mother Miranda and her character traits are very important factors in the game,” continued Sato.
