2023 is shaping up to be a great year for video games and its first quarter is full of big releases, but the most anticipated of these will definitely be Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake. This week, Capcom confirmed that development on the game has already begun. VR mode for Resident Evil 4 Remakewhich will arrive as a patch free to the PlayStation 5 version with PlayStation VR2.
This Wednesday, February 22, the PlayStation VR2, the evolution of Sony’s virtual reality device usable on PlayStation 5 consoles, went on sale. Yesterday we saw the launch of Resident Evil: Village VR Mode, a mode of virtual reality which allows us to play the entire main campaign on PS VR2, in addition to confirming that this same mode will arrive Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Via the official Resident Evil social media account, Capcom announced that it has already started development of the VR mode for Resident Evil 4 Remake in its PlayStation 5 version, which will go on sale on March 24, 2023. In an official statement from Capcom, that VR mode for Resident Evil 4 will arrive as Downloadable Content, so it will not be available at launch. Still, when it finally arrives, Resident Evil 4’s VR mode will be free for all PS5 players.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming to PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on PC on March 24, but only a VR version for PlayStation VR2 has been announced so far. This new device from Sony has 4k HDR visuals, eye-tracking technology and 3D sound that makes any experience more immersive, so we’re hoping Resident Evil 4 Remake becomes something truly spooky.
We’re just a month away from the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake, which promises to bring Capcom’s classic up to date with what’s expected on the current generation of consoles. Since Resident Evil 4 Remake’s VR mode won’t be available at launch, we’ll have time to familiarize ourselves with the game before playing the more immersive version on PS5.
