PSVR 2 it will be launched in just six days. Unfortunately, Sony refused to provide PSLS with a review of the unit, so you’ll have to see what everyone else has to say about it. Here is a summary that can help you decide if the PS5 VR headset is worth buying. Stay tuned for our review in the coming weeks.

PSVR 2 review: The good and the bad

All outlets agree that the PSVR 2 is a huge leap in technology. Many agreed on key improvements like “a phenomenally high-quality HDR OLED display”, although others were concerned that the cable that connects players to the PS5 console still tends to get in the way. . Sure, the price of entry has gone up several times over, but while several places feel the price is worth it, others think it might prevent gamers from early adoption.

The PSVR 2 launch lineup has been described as “solidly varied, if not entirely spectacular”. Horizon: Call of the Mountain in particular is getting pretty solid reviews with an average Metacritic score of 79 at the time of writing. However, it’s questionable whether this support will continue for the life of the headset, especially since the first-party titles that launched with the PSVR 2 on February 22 are missing.

Here are some examples:

  • VGC (4/5) – The PSVR 2 is impressive technology. The price is important and will be a barrier for many, but the quality delivered is exceptional. However, the launch lineup gives us no assurance that the hardware will be supported throughout the PlayStation 5 generation, at least from PlayStation’s own studios.
  • Eurogamer and Digital Foundry: This is a far superior VR experience that brings all the advancements seen in other areas of the market to the PS5, plus some key improvements including a phenomenal HDR OLED display.
  • PushSquare: PSVR2 improves on all the shortcomings of its predecessor, while retaining the positive points, such as its ease of use. (…) Despite its exorbitant price tag, this true next-gen effort isn’t too expensive.
  • Gamespot – PSVR2 is a very well designed VR headset that has a high quality build and premium feel while using powerful technology and features to ensure it hits all the markers for what a modern VR headset should to offer.
  • IGN (9/10) – With world-class visuals and immersive tactile Sense controllers, PlayStation VR2 represents a leap forward from its predecessor, setting a new standard for console VR gaming.
  • PlayStation Universe (9.5/10) – An alluring combination of raw power, innovative design and a solidly varied, if not entirely spectacular, launch lineup, PSVR2 manages to set a ridiculously high bar for others to follow and is easily the part the most convincing. of technology that I have in my living room right now.
