Game news PS5: God of War, Horizon … 8 big games coming out in 2022
As the year 2021 draws to a close and the PS5 has just blown its first candle, it’s time to look to the future to find out what the next few months have in store for us when it comes to video games. Some say it’s only in 2022 that we’ll see what the new generation really has in store. Here is what we can expect for the PS5.
HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST
It’s impossible to start this article without mentioning one of Sony’s biggest cartridges for next year. Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, will arrive February 18, 2022 on PS4 and PS5. The players will thus find Aloy, the heroine of the first part, who will have to face a strange red plant which threatens its world and its inhabitants, but also the madness of the men who have learned to control the machines. Along with improved graphics that take advantage of the new PlayStation, the second chapter of Guerrilla Games’ success promises a renewed and expanded exploration, less compartmentalized than in 2017. It will now be possible to climb any wall – in the limit possible -, use a grapple to hoist yourself to a ledge and a tool to glide in the air.

GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK
Another must-see in the PlayStation catalog for next year, the formidable God of War Ragnarok is slowly but surely preparing its arrival on PS4 and PS5. Nevertheless, Santa Monica Studio’s triple-A does not yet have a specific release date, aside from “2022”. What we do know, however, is that the title will allow us to discover the rest of the adventures of Kratos and his son Atreus, three years after the events of the first episode. As the Ragnarok prepares, the duo set off on an adventure to find answers and survive. For now, in the gameplay trailer, we can appreciate more dazzling visuals than what the God of War of 2018 had offered us, with environments where life is more present than in the past. Some new attacks and new characters will also be part of the game.
UNCHARTED : LEGACY OF THIEVES COLLECTION
Another iconic Sony hero returns, but not necessarily as expected. At the start of 2022, players will be able to rediscover Uncharted 4 and Uncharted Lost Legacy in remastered versions for PS5 and PC, with Legacy of Thieves Collection. We do not yet know the details of this new version, but it should benefit from the usual improvements of this kind of ports, namely 4K and 60 frames per second, with slightly reworked visuals. As a reminder, Uncharted 4 marks the end of the adventures of the great Nathan Drake, then extricated from his daily life to go on a last treasure hunt. For its part, Uncharted Lost Legacy offers a new story with the duo Chloé (Uncharted 2 and 3) and Nadine, antagonist of the last chapter of the series.

GREAT TOURISM 7
Expected with each new PlayStation console launch, especially by fans of racing games, Gran Turismo will return very soon with a seventh episode on PS4 and PS5 still developed by Polyphony Digital. Release date, March 4, 2022. An opus synonymous with going back to basics. In the latest gameplay video, fans haven’t missed the return of Simulation GT mode and the series’ traditional campaign. “With Gran Turismo 7, we are taking things put forward in Gran Turismo Sport like the championships, while returning to a traditional large-scale experience like Gran Turismo 1 and 4 to make the best Gran Turismo possible” Kazunori Yamauchi, head of Polyphony Digital, explained recently. The title will include 90 tracks at the output and will exploit ray tracing.

Pre-order Gran Turismo 7 at Micromania
Unveiled at the base during the PS5 Showcase in June 2020 under the name Project Athia, Forspoken continues to be talked about and will arrive Next year exclusively for console on PS5 and PC. An advantage that will end two years after the title’s release, set for May 24, 2022. It is an action-RPG with an emphasis on the open world, developed by the Luminous Productions studio and published by Square Enix. Players will follow the adventures of Frey, a young woman who travels without warning from New York City to the fantasy world of Ahtia. To find her way home, she can count on Cuff, a bracelet that talks. Overall, the title seems to be based on a solid realization and quite dynamic and lively movements, with a bunch of tools to rush forward. A future nice surprise.

LITTLE DEVIL INSIDE
After a long time, the curious Little Devil Inside was talked about again during the State of Play in October 2021. This colorful adventure game seems like an experience apart. In the last published gameplay video, we can see a hero taking the train to destroy a kraken … in the basement of a house. One thing is certain, Little Devil Inside will focus on original, unexpected discoveries, and on various phases of the game. The most important thing is not the destination, it is the encounters we have made in the meantime, as they say. In the video, we can see that there will be both moments on a world map where the heroes are represented in tiny, and moments up close, with sword fights. Finally, there will also be elements of survival. The game will first be released on PC, PS4 and PS5.
Stray, aka “the cute game with the little cat”, is among the titles presented in June 2020 to promote the PlayStation 5 catalog. And in July of this year we got to see more, with a very first sequence of gameplay. So you control a cat that must evolve in a world populated by robots. We do not know much more for the moment, except that the animal will have to find its family. In the gameplay video, we can appreciate the care given to the atmosphere of the city, its inhabitants and the feline animations. “Exploration is a key element and as we like to add a lot of detail to our environments” explain the developers on the PlayStation blog, “We hope players enjoy looking for all the little bits of hidden knowledge”. It must be said, we can’t wait to play it.
Here is another very mysterious project: since its reveal at E3 2019, Ghostwire Tokyo has shown itself on numerous occasions but takes a long time to come out. It must be said that in the meantime, Microsoft has bought Bethesda and Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within), the developer of the game. In any case, the title is always a PS5 console exclusive., also released on PC (and other media a year after its release). The adventure seems rather original. The player takes on the role of Akito whose powers begin to manifest as Tokyo is overrun by ghosts and spirits. But the man will be able to count on other allies to defend the city. Everything takes place in the first person and relies on “Naruto-style” hand movements to use the spells. There is no longer any time to wait. Release: spring 2022.
- Release date : Spring 2022
We end with a game that does not look good and yet will thrill action and combat fans: SIFU. Developed by Sloclap, which has already delivered the very nice Absolver, the title presents itself a kung fu game that is both complete and lively, plus a nice artistic direction. The player plays a martial arts student whose family is murdered overnight. Five people are responsible and he intends to come to the end of each of them. We haven’t been able to try our hand at the title yet, but the combos seem to be really fluid, in a combat exhilaration comparable to what Absolver offered us. SIFU seems to be the culmination of the Sloclap team’s style. With more of a small originality: each time the player dies, he becomes older, but also more powerful.
