Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake changes those responsible. Ubisoft Montreal takes the reins of the project from “the work done” by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, who had led the development until now.

“The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal, the birthplace of the epic Sands of Time trilogy,” the company begins in a statement posted on social media. “This decision is an important step and the team, building on the work done by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time necessary to regroup around the game’s approach in order to deliver the best experience for this remake of a timeless classic when you’re ready.

They conclude by thanking “the continued support and patience” during development. We’ll know more about his progress in a future update. Therefore, from Ubisoft, they do not change their status: the game is still delayed sine die, as they communicated in February 2021.

A difficult evolution

It was during the 2020 edition of Ubisoft Forward that we learned that the Prince of Persia would return in the form of a remake. The Sands of Time is the most fan-favorite episode, and at first this version listed January 21, 2021. The playable portion featured at the event was meme meat and internet laughs, but its old managers defended it as a conscious decision. : “We wanted to give it a unique visual aspect”, specifies Pierre Sylvain-Gires, director of the game at the time.

The delays followed. The first moved its launch to March 2021; the second, on the other hand, pulled it from the schedule to “offer a remake that feels fresh while staying true to the original title”. A year and three months later, doubts continue to swirl around him.
