Let’s go over a few things you’ll see in the game this season!
Plant the seeds of victory with Lifeweaver
Lifeweaver is a Thai scientist who uses biolight technology to carry out his mission to heal the world. Although on the run from Vishkar, he is determined to use his technology as a way to make a difference to those around him. His charisma and wit will make any hero who encounters him on the battlefield smile (and perhaps blush).
Lifeweaver has a diverse skill set that allows him to heal and save teammates. Healing Sprout fires bursts of healing towards injured allies. Switch to his secondary primary shot, Thorny Volley, to become a thorn in the side of your opponents. Elevate your teammates to new heights with Petal Platform and get them out of harm’s way with Life Grasp. Finally, Lifeweaver is able to consistently provide a high amount of healing and offer protection with his ultimate, Tree of Life.
Celebrate Thai New Year with BOB and Lifeweaver
Our first event of Season 4 celebrating Lifeweaver and its Thai origin starts now until April 25th. Jump into the new Arcade mode, BOB and Lifeweaver, where you’ll team up with two other teammates for a one-on-one in this 3v3 Deathmatch. Everyone plays Lifeweaver and both teams have a single BOB who can move around the map using Life Grasp to take out enemies.
Don’t forget to complete the event challenges for special Lifeweaver and Thai New Year rewards before the fun ends on April 25!
Introducing Talantis: You design it; we build it
If you joined us on our “Twitch Makes Overwatch” stream last December, you collaborated with Game Director Aaron Keller and Art Director Dion Rogers to design a new control map from the ground up with pits from the death, stepping stones and many giant fish. Talon’s Secret Underwater Lair Completed – This non-canon card will be available in the Arcade for a limited time from April 25 through May 1.
Save or conquer the galaxy
Venture into a space-themed PVP event from May 9-22 where you’ll team up with the Watchers or the Infinite Empire for an epic battle for galactic supremacy.
Starwatch: Galactic Rescue is a 4v4 game mode set in a revamped Horizon lunar colony where the Watchers will attack the Infinite Empire, which will be on the defense. Assemble your team of selected heroes to represent the Vigil and the Infinite Empire and fight to achieve new goals (there will be surprises!).
You’ll see the loyalty of some of our heroes throughout this premium Battle Pass cosmetics space theme. Will you play as Space Prince Lúcio or Alien Winston on the side of the Watchers? Or will you be on the side of D.Va as Infinite or Mercy Seer Infinite on the side of the Infinite Empire?
Regardless of your side, you can complete Starwatch challenges for free event rewards from May 9 to May 22!
The gods return to the battlefield
Junker Queen Zeus and the rest of the mighty deities are back as Battle for Olympus returns to Overwatch 2 from May 23-29.
Junker Queen Zeus will once again face off against her mighty rivals in this explosive free-for-all game. Plus, you’ll be able to rally your friends and form a near-omnipotent team, as Battle for Olympus is also available with Team Deathmatch rules!
Celebrate life, friendship and love
Overwatch 2’s goal is to make the future bright, so we’re excited to create new events throughout the season that will bring us together as a community. First, we’re introducing the Legendary Gardener’s Symmetra skin in the Symmetra Challenge. Complete in-game challenges to earn this skin and other spring rewards when it becomes available from May 30 through June 6.
Finally, we’re excited to be hosting our first Pride event in Overwatch 2 starting June 1. We’ll tell you more throughout the season, but we can’t wait to celebrate friendship, family, and how you come together in Overwatch 2.
Hero Updates for Season 4
This season includes more balance updates, including a rework of Brigitte’s ultimate. First, we made some minor changes to Sigma, Reinhardt, and Cassidy to reduce their lethality a bit.
We’ve seen some feedback regarding Mercy’s changes in Season 3. While our goal was to make her healing more interesting to save low health allies, she ended up relying on her mobility rather than her stamina. to stay alive through her passive and Valkyrie, which made her less fun to play or have as an opponent. We’re reverting the changes and adding a slight change to how Guardian Angel works so that its boosted jump is controlled.
Next, we’re fixing Brigitte’s ultimate, Formation, to make it more interesting and powerful when she uses it. Brigitte now gains a fixed amount of regenerative armor and boosts her shield with increased size and health, as well as the ability to stun. From now on, prepare for a savage fight every time you hear his battle cry.
Competitive Mode and Matchmaking Updates for Season 4
We have made more updates to improve the competitive experience in Overwatch 2. Starting this season, you will no longer see your level and division drop as we are removing seasonal leveling. Also, so you can see how well you are up against your opponents, the average match skill rating will be displayed at the start of the match.
After the match, you will be able to see your win and loss record as you progress to your next competitive update. When you reach the Competitive Upgrades threshold, you will be able to see how far you have left to reach the next division in your skill level.
Finally, we’re improving the matchmaking experience for situations where players need to fill a gap in an unranked match. Priority will be given to players whose skill level is similar to other players in the current game. This will help make every game fairer for everyone.
