A new patch for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fixed some crashes when removing Pokemon and people from their open world.
Earlier today on February 27, a new update for Scarlet and Violet went live shortly after a Pokemon Presents showcase. Patch notes for the update were quickly released on Nintendo’s official website (opens in a new tab), revealing that the 1.2.0 update fixed some crashes in both games with a solution bypass.
“We fixed an issue that caused the game to crash in certain locations. As a result of this fix, there may be fewer Pokemon and people in certain towns or in the wild,” the patch notes read. on the Nintendo website.
It is true that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet suffered from problems, among other technical problems, when they launched last year. Stuttering and dropped frames were a common complaint from gamers, perhaps more so than outright crashes, and both issues were undoubtedly hampering the experience for many.
It remains to be seen how fine-tuned Scarlet and Violet’s open world is to fix crashes. You’d expect the open world in both games to not be exactly empty after the update, but given how quickly you could encounter creatures before this update, it might be too difficult to expect such a dramatic change.
It was this same patch that introduced the two new Legendary Pokemon Paradox. One of the main reveals of the Pokémon Presents showcase was Walking Wake for Pokémon Scarlet and Iron Leaves for Pokémon Violet, two new arrivals that are available now in both games thanks to the new patch via Tera Raid Battles.
New Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC was also revealed today, and the two new installments will be released later this year.
