Rumors have been circulating for some time that those responsible at Sony have opened another development studio in San Diego. The team is said to have nothing to do with the existing San Diego Studios, which are known, among other things, for the annual offshoots of MLB The Show. Sony has not officially commented on the subject, but employees have given some hints about the new studio on their LinkedIn profiles.
The latest information comes from the profile of Michael Mumbauer, who worked for Sony Worldwide Studios for more than 13 years. During his time, Mumbauer was employed as Studio Head and Senior Director of Visual Arts. One of his most recent activities was the establishment of a new development team that was specially put together for new games for existing PlayStation brands. According to the location, this studio is in San Diego. And details about the project were also revealed here.
Accordingly, the team should work on an action-adventure title for the new generation. In the past there have been rumors that Uncharted is working on a new game. Former Naughty Dog employees are also said to have joined the San Diego studio. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was released in May 2016 and was considered the conclusion of the series with Nathan Drake. Another spin-off followed a year later with “The Lost Legacy”. This year the film adaptation of the same name will also appear in cinemas.
