Xbox boss Phil Spencer appeared in a new interview today with the Xbox On YouTube channel, where he discussed a variety of topics, including the games he plays, January’s Xbox Developer Direct, and more .
However, the interview focused primarily on Microsoft’s ongoing bid to acquire Activision Blizzard, which raised the topic of Obligation one more time. Interestingly, Spencer pointed out during the chat that Microsoft has no plans to make Xbox-exclusive Call of Duty content in the future.
Here’s what he had to say about it:
“Today I’m sitting here with a great game that’s come out in the last few weeks, Hogwarts Legacy. And yes, there is a mission that is available on PlayStation; It’s not available on Xbox as part of that and I know that’s part of the industry.
It’s also not the game we’re trying to play here, it’s not a skin on a weapon, it’s not some type of game mode… the same version of the game will be available on all platforms.”
As we’ve seen for some time, Sony has created a number of exclusive Call of Duty content for PlayStation over a period of time, including beta access, XP bonuses, and even a full mode in some cases.
Thankfully, it looks like that will be a thing of the past if Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard goes through, meaning everyone on all platforms will get the same level of quality no matter where they choose to play.
