Outriders runs exclusively online even in solo mode. And without a break.

Outriders doesn’t give you a break. And that doesn’t just mean the fast-paced battles that tend to bury you under hordes of enemies. No, literally: There is no pause function. But we have good news for Nvidia owners.

Outriders keeps going

The fact that there is no way to pause the game even in solo mode can be quite annoying. Outriders continues to run in the main menu, as does when you switch to another window.

This is particularly annoying when you notice in the middle of a battle that your frames are breaking and you want to lower the resolution. Or the sound is too loud, or your key assignment has been reset, or well, as I said, it quickly becomes annoying. Which is a shame, because Outriders is actually really fun when the servers are running.

There is currently only one known trick to pause the game. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for all players.

This is how the Nvidia pause works

If you have an Nvidia graphics card, you can use Ansel to pause the game. We’ll explain how it’s very easy to do.

What is ansel?

Ansel is a program with which you can easily take screenshots in games. An Nvidia-exclusive photo mode, so to speak. You use it to shoot images in extremely high resolutions, you have many filters and adjustments to choose from and you can even take 3D recordings. You can read which games Ansel supports here.

  • Make sure that all drivers are up to date
  • You need to have GeForce Experience activated
  • Started Outriders
  • To start Ansel in the game, press Alt and F2
  • You should now be in Photo Mode while your game is paused

You can then change the window without any problems, for example to take a quick look at our detailed Plus Guide for Outriders. However, you have no access to inventory and Co. We hope that the developers will deliver a real pause function in the future, which will then also be available to all players.

Why not a break? We can only speculate about the reasons for the missing feature. It may be related to the drop-in co-op, which allows you to join a friend’s game at any time. There is of course no break in multiplayer mode – but that shouldn’t be a problem in single player mode. Warframe also gets such a function.

Do you want a normal pause function in Outriders? Or are there other ideas on your wish list (apart from more stable servers)? Let us know in the comments.
