A demo of the promising loot shooter Outriders will be released on February 25th for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
The developers now have announced on Twitter what you can expect in this extensive trial version.

When is the demo available? You can download the Outriders demo for free from February 25th at 6pm. It is then available to you on the PC via Steam and is around 24 GB in size.
How long can you play? There is no time limit. You can play as long as you want. The demo is also still open to you after the release of Outriders on April 1st. Even if the loot shooter has been released, you can get an overview using the trial version before buying.
What’s in the demo? The developers explain that you can play the entire prologue and the opening chapter of the loot shooter. Either alone or with up to two other players in co-op. That means you find loot and fight against enemies that match the entry into the shooter.
Later in the main game you will discover much more powerful loot and have to assert yourself against more wacky and stronger opponents. The demo takes you to the showdown with Gauss, the first boss opponent.
You are good and happy with that Employed for two to three hours. Then you can play through the demo with another class. If you try all four classes, you will get up to 12 hours.
What’s next after the boss fight? The main story of the demo ends with the fight against Gauss. However, you will unlock some new side quests through this dispute. They lead you to other places in the game world. So you can continue to explore the map after the boss fight.
Side missions are very important in the game, otherwise you will miss a lot of the world.
Which classes and skills are included? You can play all four classes. These are:
- Devastating
- Pyromancer
- Technomancer
- Trickster
Thanks to six character slots, it is possible to try out every class.
The demo offers a level cap of level 7. That means you can develop each class up to the fourth learnable skill. You get two skill points, which you freely distribute in the skill tree.
The world tier is limited to level five. This is what Outriders calls its levels of difficulty and what prey you can find. At level five you can find legendary items, but that doesn’t happen very often.
Is it possible to transfer the progress to the main game? Yes! You will then continue playing right where you left off in the demo. However, this does not apply if you switch to another platform.
So if you play the demo on the PC, for example, but then want to get Outriders for the PS5, then you have to start over. A transfer from the Steam demo to the Epic Games Store does not work either.
In addition, the resources you need for crafting and trading are limited to a generous level in order to be able to better balance the takeover of your hero into the main game.
Is there crossplay? Yes. As a PC player, you can experience adventures with friends who are on the go on the Playstation or Xbox. However, the demo is still a beta feature and must be activated manually in the options.
What about trophies and achievements? It is not possible to unlock achievements and trophies in the demo.
