It’s been over a month since Valorant officially presented its new map, Lotus, in Episode 6: Revelation. A menu that stood out for its diversity, dynamism and great aesthetics.
Lotus is an ancient city located in the forests of the Western Ghats mountain ranges in southern India. Harbour, the latest agent to enter the Valorant protocol, together with Astra, discover this ruined city consumed by nature, where nature, architecture and technology coexist.
The map is made up of three sitesplace where the peak. This type of structure is already found in another of his cards, Heaven. But there are some differences between these two maps.

Although the feeling that the Lotus has large dimensions, the reality is that during the laps it gives the feeling that it is smaller, because the sites (areas) are very closed and are also connected by different corridors. This greatly facilitates rotations between sites, both for attack and defense.
For players who like to go it alone (hidden), this card seems completely made for them and very necessary to win rounds. Also, unlike other maps, each site has different entry points, so several different attack and defense options.
Having multiple entry points allows you to attack more aggressively, which will lead to a more conservative defense, as it’s quite difficult to catch opponents off guard. The smart thing to do is to play more passively by covering the different options. It should be noted that, for example, the defense of the post plant in B it is very complicated because of all the entries there are.
new mechanics
The great novelty, which I personally find very successful, are the new mechanics put in place. We find two revolving gates, one at A, which connects to the site of A, and the other as a connection between B and C.

Although this new article has also received some criticism, with which I completely agree. One of the problems is the big noise they make when turning and also the “tip” of the mini map that tells us which door is turning, with the consequent information for our opponents. As a tip, don’t use certain abilities or “ultis” on these doors, as they break them.
We also find a breakable door that connects A to B, which was also one of the novelties. This door is broken by weapons, but some abilities like grenade To shave they can too. It should be noted that other skills such as the poison of Viper or Raze’s own C4 explosives fail to break it either.
Protagonism to the most undervalued agents
It should be noted that Lotus also served to give more importance to the agents who do not have it so much and are fundamental on this map in particular. In Lotus it is essential to have a good controller with unique smokes, not curtain smokes.
One of the controllers that, in addition to being present in the design of the map, through statues, and which is very useful, is Astra. His smokes and his ultimate ability are decisive in controlling and dividing the map.
Other useful agents are sentries, like Bedroom oh Wiseeven if for me the most useful are spoiler there Zero. With KillJoy and its turret, for example, we can control different angles, and its ultimate It’s beautiful, because it covers so much ground.
If we talk about starters, Kay/O if you are become a joker on all maps. In Lotus it is mainly because of his knife and because with his ultimate ability they reveal a lot of information to us. Breach is also a very good option, by the way.
And finally, the duelists I would highlight the most are Reina, because if you have a good goal, it is always a great guarantee. Raze and its abilities are very useful, as well as Jetwhich is also very versatile on most maps.
Lotus, one of the best cards
Lotus, for me, is one of the newest and freshest maps in the Valorant universe, since new mechanics have been introduced that a priori have improved the game experience. It has also featured agents which did not have before, and which are essential today.
The aesthetics and the background are magnificent, it shows that there is a beautiful work of design and research. And what matters most is that, being such a closed map, you feel like you’re constantly fighting, which is the main activity of a tactical shooter.
Valorant today
Now, in addition to successes like this, Riot is also making mistakes, and lately too many. Personally, I feel like the studio is neglecting the game and also letting its users down. The number of hackers in qualifying games, bugs, the toxicity of some users and a reporting system that does not work, tarnish the gaming experience. There is no point in releasing a skin pack, no matter how good it is , if the user does not like to play. Hopefully Riot learns from its mistakes and starts fixing them as soon as possible.
