Many fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of a Resident Evil 4 remake, and Capcom lived up to their expectations at the Resident Evil Showcase in April 2021, at least in part.
The cult game that redesigned in 2005 the contours of Survival-Horror, and more generally of the action game, is back, not in the form of an outright remake, but a virtual reality experience. .
The Survival-Horror genre and virtual reality go hand in hand. Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is edifying proof of this. Capcom’s game becomes a highly immersive VR experience that enhances its primary qualities.
Many players are hoping for a fully playable Resident Evil Village under similar conditions, but the Japanese publisher has yet to confirm anything about it.
Capcom took advantage of its spring event to highlight another episode of the franchise. Resident Evil 4 will have the honor of a virtual reality version on the Oculus Quest 2 headset. Oculus Studios and Armature Studios are currently working on this project.
This porting designed for virtual reality involves gameplay adjustments, and especially a first person point of view which radically changes the final experience. RE 4 in VR ultimately promises increased immersion.
According to Mike Morishita (Executive Producer for Facebook) and Mike Verdu (VP of Content for Facebook), this version of Resident Evil 4 will be revealed a little more during the Oculus Gaming Showcase broadcast on April 21, 2021.
