In September of last year, we found out that for some reason, octopathic traveler 2 it was not planned to be released on Xbox, although it was announced for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Unfortunately, that seems to be the case at the moment, and it’s all the more disappointing since the reviews are so good! Most went live yesterday, and there have already been some big flying scores.
Here’s what some critics had to say as part of their verdicts:
“Octopath Traveler II is a successful and confident sequel to its predecessor, building on established foundations with new ideas and welcome tweaks that make for an outstanding overall experience. A strategic combat system, open character progression, well-written stories, beautiful visuals, and an incredible soundtrack all come together in one of the best RPGs available on Switch today.”
Octopath Traveler II features turn-based action rich enough to forgive its minor flaws in the combat system. It’s a stunning work of art, full of stories and adventure, enhanced by an incredible cast of characters that will leave you hungry. more at each step. A masterfully crafted RPG.”
“Octopath Traveler II does what a great sequel should do. Instead of innovating left and right, it improves on the original in almost every way and feels more confident with the stories it tells. still has room for improvement in some of its stiffer areas, but Octopath II is a great achievement by any measure.”
It looks like Metacritic’s final score for Octopath Traveler 2 will settle 85-90 mark, which puts it on the same level (or more) compared to the first game. So let’s hope we finally get it on Xbox!
Speaking of the first game, Octopath Traveler is set to leave Xbox Game Pass in February 2023, and specifically February 28. If you haven’t tried it yet, we recommend downloading it over the weekend.
We’ll be crossing our fingers that Square Enix brings Octopath Traveler 2 to Xbox in the not-too-distant future, but for now, it’s an RPG we’re sad to miss.
