A new rumor is circulating today suggesting that sony Bought red project cd, with an image purporting to show a merger or acquisition of the two companies that was circulated on social media. However, it is highly unlikely that the rumor is credible.
The rumor seems to have started because of Sony’s page on the PitchBook market data platform, which lists a number of the company’s investments and acquisitions. Among these is the CD Projekt Red ‘Merger/Acquisition’, with PitchBook showing the deal took place on October 26, 2022.
An image of this acquisition data was later posted on social media and Reddit, where some claimed it was proof that the Cyberpunk 2077 developer was bought by Sony, but aside from this listing on PitchBook , there is no other data to support this claim.
I keep seeing PlayStation fans spreading this.

Given that the deal would have taken place in October 2022, it is unlikely that this information would not have been made public within five months of the alleged acquisition. Likewise, the alleged purchase was not mentioned in the company’s own earnings reports. As such, this is more than likely a PitchBook bug.
Ever since Microsoft announced its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there’s been a lot of speculation as to whether Sony will follow suit with its own high-profile purchase. This has included rumors that the PS5 maker is looking to buy Take-Two Interactive.
