Super Mario Bros. Movie

Nintendo just gave a first official look at Illumination’s upcoming Super Mario movie! Late last year, following the official announcement of the upcoming film, the cast list also followed. So Mario will be played by Chris Pratt, which caused a stir on social media.

Some details of the plot have already been leaked. The plot of the upcoming Mario Bros. movie is said to be whimsical, but also exactly what fans of the video game series would expect from a film adaptation.

The film will also be a musical. One of the most anticipated aspects is a song about plumbers to be sung by Mario and Luigi themselves!

A full trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which will probably be the official English-language title, will be shown during a special Nintendo Direct on Thursday (October 6th).

Fans are looking forward to the trailer to get their first real look at Chris Pratt’s Mario – but also Jack Black’s Bowser, Charlie Day’s Luigi and Anya Taylor-Joy’s Princess Peach.

First insight

However, prior to releasing the full trailer, Nintendo released a teaser poster, which you can check out below. This is the first glimpse of the film’s style so far.

Illumination has managed to take and work with the bright and colorful style that Nintendo is known for. The poster is packed with details that will undoubtedly obsess fans for weeks.

Everything is still open until the release of the trailer later this week. The response to the published poster on Twitter has so far been mostly positive. As one user comments: “It looks really beautiful”, while another notes: “Regardless of Illumination’s reputation, their animations have always been great.”
