You may have seen a game called sea of stars it premiered as part of the February 2023 Nintendo Direct, with a free demo arriving on the Nintendo Switch eShop the same day, and has proven hugely popular so far.
However, there’s also been a bit of controversy surrounding the game recently, as it has yet to be confirmed for Xbox, despite the original Kickstarter campaign suggesting it would be “compatible with all current-gen platforms”.
As you can imagine, some funders fear that their pledges will be wasted. That’s what one of them, @MikeSzoke on Twitter, he had to say about the situation on Thursday:
“I supported Sea of Stars because (you) told me it would be compatible with ALL current gen platforms. That was three years ago and they STILL won’t say whether it will actually be on Xbox or not. People are going to be frustrated.”
To credit the Sea of Stars team, they’ve been very active trying to respond to people on Twitter over the past few days, but have yet to confirm an Xbox release. Instead, they said there was a lot of work going on behind the scenes and there might still be an Xbox announcement ahead of the August 29 release date.
The plan to bring it to as many players as possible has not changed.
There’s a lot going on behind the scenes and there’s still plenty of time before launch for one final platform announcement. Stay tuned, and thanks for the support.

Ultimately, it seems to us that an Xbox version of Sea of Stars is in the works, but for some reason the team can’t discuss it in depth at this time. We suggest you don’t worry too much, even if you’re a Kickstarter backer, although the lack of confirmation obviously bothers some people, and we can understand the frustration.
Fingers crossed we can play this one on Xbox later this year… it looks awesome from what we’ve seen!
