a new independent call of duty game, currently untitled, will be released in 2023 on PS5 and PS4. Developed by Sledgehammer Games with help from fellow Activision studios, it will be a premium game in its own right that will seemingly tie into the Modern Warfare franchise in some way. Along with a rumored November 10 release date, the game will also feature beta weekends and early access to the campaign.
Call of Duty 2023 Schedule for Beta, Early Access and Release Date
Insider Gaming has detailed a tentative breakdown of key dates for this new Call of Duty game, which are consistent with the franchise’s previous game schedule, via various unnamed sources:
- Beta 1: October 6-10
- Beta 2: October 12-16
- Campaign (Early Access) – November 2
- Release date: November 10
Currently, the campaign’s first beta and early access are apparently exclusive to PS5 and PS4. This would be particularly good news for Sony, as it was recently reported that more gamers bought a PS5 for Call of Duty than for other PlayStation-exclusive consoles.
While this new CoD game was supposed to be premium DLC for Modern Warfare 2, Activision decided to make it a full standalone release. The game is apparently called “Modern Warfare 3”, but that title probably hasn’t been verified as the developers haven’t decided on a name yet.
In recent news, a UK regulator has suggested that Activision Blizzard is considering selling or removing Call of Duty from its proposed merger with Microsoft.
