Xbox Live
Xbox Live has been around for nearly two decades. It was originally released for the Xbox system in November 2002. In 2005, Microsoft reintroduced this service with some updates and improvements with the introduction of the Xbox 360.
At the moment, Xbox Live is a live online service for gamers on both Xbox and Windows PC systems. But it looks like Microsoft will drop the “Live” part of Xbox Live in the future.
Xbox Network
Yesterday, several users on Xbox consoles reported that they now see “Xbox Network” instead of the usual “Xbox Live” on the main dashboard. This could be something that has not yet been officially announced by Microsoft and is currently in a testing phase.

That tweet was later retweeted by Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who said, “I can see the ‘Xbox Live’ branding going away in the future. It’s kind of redundant at this point. The number of Xbox consoles that are not “live”, i.e. connected to the Internet, must be very small. Xbox will always be “live” in 2021. I assume that Xbox Live Gold will also disappear one day.”
The Verge’s Tom Warren also retweeted the original tweet with a new image that includes another reference to the Xbox Network. This time it says in the upload area: “Upload to the Xbox Network.”
Keep in mind that there is no official confirmation from Microsoft and that it could just be a bug in the system. So as long as we do not receive any official news about it, everything should be treated with caution.
