If you like a co-op horror spot, you’ll be happy to hear that The Outlast Trials release date has been set, and it won’t be long before the multiplayer sequel to two of the scariest horror games on PC does not happen. in early access on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Following the success of their first two games, developer Red Barrels reveals exactly when they can work together in an attempt to survive Murkoff’s Trials.
The Outlast Trials is the third entry in the Outlast series and sees you take control of “human guinea pigs unknowingly recruited by the good folks at Murkoff Corporation to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control”. Unlike previous games, The Outlast Trials features more distinctive RPG elements, with a variety of classes offering different abilities to help you and your teammates survive.
These abilities include the ability to see nearby enemies through walls, heal allies, place mines that can blind enemies, and throw a stun device that can distract your enemies. Don’t expect Left 4 Dead though; It’s still a survival game at heart, and stealth and evasion are your most important tools. If playing with others isn’t your thing, Red Barrels says players can still experience it all on their own, though the game is definitely designed with cooperative play in mind.
The Outlast Trials release date is May 18 on Steam and Epic. The game will initially be released in early access, which means you can expect additional features to be introduced over time after the game launches. The announcement comes with a nice trailer that gives giving players a peek behind the curtain, showing many of the game’s voices shouting and gurgling in wonderfully enthusiastic fashion.
