We teach you everything you need to be able to capture monsters without taking them down in Monster Hunter Rise. You will need traps and calming objects in the process.

The big monsters of Monster Hunter Rise are the main task of the game and we will spend hours and hours hunting them. However, in addition to bringing down these enormous beasts, we can choose a somewhat more peaceful route; to capture the monsters . This is a very interesting option and if you want to get all types of materials, you will have to do it from time to time. That is why in this post we show you what to do to capture the monsters and not kill them.

How to capture the big monsters?

To learn how to capture large monsters in Monster Hunter Rise, remember that there is a training mission available entitled “The principles of capture” that you can accept by talking to Hinoa. It is ideal to learn these mechanics calmly. Although we will also tell you here what you need to achieve it.

Mainly to capture the monsters you will need traps and tranquilizing objects . Once you have them, you will have to follow the following three steps in order:

Step One: Weaken the Monster

The first step is the easiest. Simply look for your monster and as soon as it is in front of you start attacking it. This part is about weakening him little by little with your weapons, but without actually killing him, be careful.

You need the monster to be weak , and you will know this to be so when you see its status icon turn blue . Also, by making the monster weak enough it is possible that it will begin to limp away from you (be careful from here with going past you and knocking it down).

Step Two: Set a Trap

As soon as the monster is weakened, we will have to go to the next step; set a trap to immobilize him.

  • The idea is to place the trap on the ground: and try to get the monster to pass over it.
  • There is a possibility that the monster will flee: if this is the case, you will have to follow it to its nest. If he falls asleep, you can place the trap next to or close to him and hit him so that he ends up falling into it.

Either way, when you get the monster to pass over the trap , it will be immobilized for a brief moment.

Step 3: Use sedative objects

After the two previous steps, you only have one last thing left; use sedative objects to capture the monster.

  • Note that this should be done very quickly: right after immobilizing the monster with a trap (before it manages to escape).
  • So you have a few seconds: to equip your item and use it. For example you can use tranquilizer bombs. You will usually need more than one sedative to achieve this.

If you do it right, soon the monster will be captured. It should be mentioned that the capture of monsters is usually more difficult and complex than directly taking down the monster, although many times it can be faster than the latter if you master the technique. Of course, it is something that interests you since some materials are exclusive to the capture of monsters and can only be obtained in this way.

How to get traps and sedative objects?

As we have mentioned, to capture monsters you will need both traps and tranquilizing objects. Here below we explain how to get these objects :

Shock and stumbling traps

The two common traps for capturing monsters are the Shock Trap (also known as the Electric Trap) and the Pitfall Trap . These two traps can be crafted from the Formula List menu with the following materials:

  • The pitfall trap: Tools. for traps x1 + Red x1.
  • Shock / Electric Trap: Tools for traps x1 + Electrobicho x1.

The Tools object for cheating can be purchased from Kagero the Village merchant for 200z . The Net is a material that can be made with Ivy x1 and Cobweb x1 ; Both materials are easily found when exploring hunting areas (for example, in the first of the Forgotten Temple). Finally, the Electrobicho are also in nature, as a general rule we face the trunks of the trees (there are always near the camp of the frozen islands, in zone 1).

To these traps you can also add objects such as Poisoned Meat or Toxic Meat , to increase the immobilization effects, but in principle with the aforementioned traps you will already have something decent to start capturing monsters.

Sedative objects

The main sedative item in the game is Tranquilizer Bombs . These pumps can be started from scratch with the Recipe List menu :

  • Tranquilizer bombs: Sleeping Herb x1 + Paral-shirt x1.

Sleeping Herb and Paraliseta are two fairly frequent resources in all hunting areas, just remember on your walks to collect all the plants you see and the mushrooms to fill your pockets with them. When you have enough, you can keep a good amount of tranquilizer bombs in your inventory so that no monsters escape you.
