looking forward to him Minecraft Update 1.20 Release Date? We are like that. The next major content update was announced during Minecraft Live on October 15, 2022 and now bears its official name: Trails and Tales, with the update focusing on the Minecraft community and their stories. Ahead of the Trails and Tales update release date, Mojang Studios has now revealed all of the exciting new features we can expect to see, and has even given us hands-on access to some of the new additions already.
Minecraft continues to be one of the best PC games of the past decade and keeps fans coming back with these annual updates. Based on community, rendering, and creativity, we know the next one will include new Minecraft skins, as well as a new way to customize your fit with Minecraft armor ornaments. There’s a new mob in the form of Minecraft’s camel, as well as the winner of the Sniffer mob vote, and yes, long forgotten, Minecraft archeology is underway. That’s all that happens when the Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales release date rolls around.
The announcement of the Minecraft 1.20 update broke the trend of update announcements from previous years. Still revealed during Minecraft Live, we were given fewer details than in previous years, in part due to previously announced mechanics and additions that never made it into the game, such as Minecraft Packs, Archeology and fireflies, which caused backlash from fans. . To prevent this from happening again, this year Mojang has only confirmed features that are almost ready to go. On the plus side, this means we can test these features much sooner than in previous years, with camels, bamboo wood, cherry groves, and other experimental features available in snapshots now.
Speculation on the release date of Trails and Tales
As of now, there is no official release date for Minecraft update 1.20, but we expect Tales and Trails to release around summer 2023, following a pattern of previous updates.. We need to get closer as many new features have been revealed, but we’re still in the snapshot stage and we’ll know we’re getting closer once the previews start arriving.
Our own speculation of a summer release date is based on previous content releases. The last four major updates, except for 1.19, were released in June the year after it was announced. 1.19 was an exception, as it was not a planned update as such, but rather the second part of the Caves and Cliffs update. With all the new content now revealed and nearly complete, we don’t think a June release date for 1.20 is unreasonable.
Features of Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales
New cherry blossom biome
This is the biggest and final reveal of Trails and Tales’ massive update, the new Cherry Blossom biome. This new biome has long been requested by fans of the game, as evidenced by the Sakura trees that appear in many of Minecraft’s most popular mods, and it also brings a new type of wood, which always turns out great. Plus, there’s not one, but two new wood sets coming in 1.20, including the new bamboo wood (read on for more). This beautiful biome doesn’t feature any new mobs (yet), but it is home to sheep, pigs, and bees, and while we don’t know if it’s a new grass block, but we hope really it is, you can see in the image above, you can see that the floor is even covered in beautiful pink sakura petals.
Archeology
It’s true, archeology is coming. The feature was first announced during Minecraft Live 2020, as part of the Caves and Cliffs update, and then removed, or so we thought. In a surprise announcement on February 10, 2023, Mojang Studios revealed that they are still working on Minecraft Archeology and that it will be part of the 1.20 update. Archaeological dig sites will be limited to the area around the Desert Temples to begin with, but will expand. So if you find yourself in one of the few structures in the desert, start digging and keep an eye out for the suspicious new block of sand, which contains mysterious ancient secrets.
bamboo blocks and rafts
Of course, a new Minecraft update must come with new blocks; After all, blocks are literally what makes sandbox gaming what it is. For the Minecraft Trails and Tales update, these new blocks are made of bamboo, which sits somewhere between the wooden block family and bamboo itself.
This new block is excellent for several reasons. First, it adds another use to the fast-growing bamboo, which until now has only been used to feed pandas and build scaffolding. The bamboo block can be crafted into most of the same elements as wood, such as stairs, gates, slabs, and fences, and even comes with its own unique variation of bamboo tiles. The one item you cannot craft out of bamboo, however, is a boat. Technically. The new raft replaces the boat when crafted from bamboo and works exactly the same, it just looks a bit cooler as it sails away from your deserted island or cruise-themed base. jungle.
camels
We already knew that a new mob would be coming to Minecraft soon, and the annual mob vote would be back for another year. However, it has been confirmed that the winner, the tracker, will be joined by another new creature, the camel, in a future update.
Adding to the ever-growing list of Minecraft mobs, the camel not only adds something new to the oft-overlooked desert biome, it will also provide a nimble new way to move around the world. Two players can ride this cute new monster at a time, it has a useful new running mechanic and its own adorable and realistic animations.
chiseled shelves
Speaking of new items and new types of wood, another wooden item is coming soon, useful for builders and redstoners. The Chiseled Library is perhaps one of the most interesting and exciting blocks to add to Minecraft in a long time thanks to its game-changing implications.
The chiseled shelf is an interactive shelf, a step up from the existing shelf, that can be decorative and useful for creating recipes, but doesn’t really function as a shelf. Now you can write notes and stories in a book and store them safely on a chiseled bookcase. Keep your precious enchanted books safe on a chiseled bookcase. Even make secret doors with a chiseled bookcase. Yes, the new block mechanic triggers a redstone signal when a book is placed or removed, so your secret castle dungeon rooms can become a reality. Oh, and if you have a spare, its sleek new wooden design makes it a great floor covering.
hanging signs
With the addition of the new “wood” type of bamboo and the chiseled bookcase comes another new recipe for wood crafting, making the most of each type of wood. For some time, we have been able to make signs that can be placed on the ground or lean against a wall. Creative players use them not only to tell stories or send messages to other players, but also in constructions, such as armchairs or beds. With 1.20 we will see the addition of the hanging sign, an interesting option to make shops, streets or other Minecraft buildings even more realistic. And art gamers have already started to find other uses for hanging banners, with the pennant-like display seen above during Minecraft Live.
New characters and skins.
The few eagle-eyed people who noticed new faces in recent Minecraft trailers received good news when it was announced that they would be added to Minecraft canon. These new characters are now official Minecraft skins as Ario, Efe, Kai, Makena, Noor, Sunny, and Zuri join pets Steve and Alex. You can become one of seven varied new characters in the Bedrock Edition Dressing Room and Java Edition Launcher, so make sure you know how to change your Minecraft skin.
armor ornaments
If you are happy with your minecraft skin, you can further customize your style in minecraft, making your cut more dripping, with the new minecraft armor ornaments. Cutting your armor is not easy, so it adds an exciting new experience to the survival game as you have to search high and low for new blacksmith patterns, needed to add fancy details to your armor. Oh, and that’s before you’ve gathered enough valuable gems or ingots that you need for decorations.
