The Minecraft developers have unveiled one last big feature for update 1.20, and while the new cherry blossom biome looks great, what’s really exciting is the addition of pink wood.
The cherry blossom biome marks the last major feature revealed for Minecraft 1.20, which will also include additions such as archeology and armor ornaments. The new biome will naturally feature forests full of pink flowering trees and, as the devs explain in the announcement blog post (opens in a new tab), spawn creatures like pigs, sheep and bees .
But a new type of tree means we get something even more important: a new type of wood. Rosewood, to be precise. You’ll be able to harvest cherry blossom wood to build in pink, and while I’m pretty sure it’s not nature-accurate, it offers some very cute building options. Me, I’m going to make a giant house in the shape of Kirby where you will walk towards his mouth to enter.
As fun as saying “pink wood” over and over again, cherry blossoms are rightfully a long-requested addition to Minecraft. Mods have been adding cherry blossoms to the game for years, so the request is clear and it’s good to see them finally become official.
Update 1.20 is due out in 2023, but if you don’t want to wait to play with the rosewood, snapshots and betas will give you early access to the patch’s new features.
