Last night took place the Livestream on Twitch organized by Microsoft and Asobo to announce the new features for 2022. The teams presented for more than an hour and a half the progress of the game as well as its future for next year. This will be very busy with, as in previous years, major updates every month.
Microsoft Flight Simulator has been in cruise flight since August 18, 2020 and the title has been enriched at a frantic pace with the most spectacular updates. Alternating between improvement of decorations and functionalities, the flagship simulator is now much more mature than it was in the past.
Thus, from the end of January, users will be able to experience significant australia improvement for free with the addition of new tourist objects, photogrammetric cities, airports or even missions that will allow you to discover the riches of the country and its history with an unprecedented level of detail.
We learn during this livestream that more than 60 people worked on this update including the Orbx studio, which produced the points of interest as well as the handmade airports of Melbourne, Perth or Sydney to name only the main ones.
3 new planes: The Fokker F.VII, the Beech Model 17 and the Dornier Do J
This update will also introduce an aircraft that made this country great. As with the Germany update, the Australia update will introduce the Local Legend II: Fokker F.VII DLC.
A team of 16 people worked on this product which will be sold separately. We don’t know the price, but it should be similar to the previous Local Legend, for $16.73.
There will be 6 variants of the F.VIIb/3m: One equipped with a modern cockpit, one equipped with skis, one with floats or single-engine and three-engine variants.
Microsoft also presented another DLC, named Famous Flyer 1, which was to be the Antonov AN-2 but due to licensing issues, this module was postponed to a later date and replaced by the Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing which is developed by a well-known publisher of the platform: Carenado.
It should be released later in the year alongside another update, Sim Update VIII which should be Portugal and Spain.
Along with the update that affects the entire game world (World Update VIII), another plane appears later in the year : The Dornier Do J “Plus Ultra” seaplane. The latter made the first transatlantic flight from Spain to South America in January 1926.
The next World Update will be Portugal and Spain
After Australia at the end of January, this is the Iberian Peninsula which receives new preferential treatment. The next World Update VIII will be focused on Portugal and Spain.
As with the previous ones, it will introduce a total of 4 new handmade airports, photogrammetric cities, very high resolution relief, 99 tourist objects implemented throughout the region and, as usual, it will be offered for free regardless of the version of the game you own.
The DLC Top Gun: Maverick will be released in May 2022
Other DLCs will come during the year, some of which are not yet revealed. Another major surprise, the long-awaited DLC Top Gun: Maverick will be released in May 2022.
It has been delayed due to the film’s theatrical release being repeatedly postponed. Other surprises will arrive after this release: gliders and helicopters, a top priority for the team, should also arrive this year. An additional flight model will be implemented.
