Making it possible to travel to the four corners of the world, thanks to a reproduction on the scale of our planet and its emblematic places, Microsoft Flight Simulator continues to enrich its universe and its catalog of features.

Despite a slight delay, World Update 3, dedicated to the United Kingdom, should reach us somewhere between February 9 and 11. Last week, the Microsoft Flight Simulator team explained that modeling London was complex, and that they needed a little bit more time to get it right. In a few days, players will be able to find Cambridge, Oxford, Birmingham, Bristol et Londres, 80 points of interest, and five hand-modeled airports: Barra, Liverpool, Land’s End, Manchester-Barton and Out Skerries. Alongside these, 85 airports or airfields have been improved.

But that’s not all, since at the same time, Asobo organized a question-and-answer session, the full replay can be seen on Twitch. A lot of information was communicated there, and in particular the fact that the next World Update, expected at the end of March, will concern France and Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg). For the rest, this is what Cthulhus, our tester, retained from this exchange with the community:

  • The bug of “pikes” that occurred during the December update has been fixed
  • The bug of the ILS / Flight Director shifted when the autopilot is deactivated during the approach has been corrected (Sim Update 3 / end of February).
  • Air traffic should display the true colors / livery of the companies (AirFrance, Ryanair, etc.). They really want to do it, but must have the authorizations of the companies. We should know more soon.
  • The atmospheric conditions will be further improved.
  • The wake turbulence will arrive soon.
  • VR controllers will be considered soon.
  • Raytracing support is confirmed and will be available soon. For DLSS, the answer is “maybe”.
  • AI behavior should be more relevant.
  • They will think about making sure that each plane has its own key assignments like a DCS World.
  • A Sim 3 updates will arrive as planned at the end of February and the Garmin GPS will be in the spotlight like the G3000 with new navigation options, including light management. Condensation trails should also occur alongside the effects of smoke on the wheels, but this is not yet certain.
  • Freeware (free addon) will soon be offered in the official store, in particular the A320 from FlyByWare. A “replay” system will soon be added.
  • The arrival of DirectX12 should increase the number of frames per second and improve performance on mid-range PCs.
  • It will soon be possible to download freeware via an interface, like an XPlane 11 Scenery Gataway. Everything integrated into the game. Everyone, via the SDK, will be able to improve a small part of the world and submit it to the bank of data. There will be a validation system.
  • They are aware that some VR headsets are not taken into account and do their utmost to ensure that this is the case.
  • The game will be more and more open to people with a disability through the inclusion of adapted peripherals or through in-game options.
  • There will be a redesign of trees that appear too wide. It was a choice initially made to give the impression of a very dense forest. The trees will be thinner, but more numerous, more realistic, more varied
  • In the Market Place, it will be possible to add comments, rating and contact the authors of these products and ask them questions.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available on PC and is expected to arrive on Xbox Series X this summer.
