In the UK, the days of a Happy Meal-style toy that came with your cereal box are long gone, but many still remember those fun little pieces of plastic, like Nick Symes, who runs the tiny YouTube channel Cerealmad. .

Symes began his entire collection of toys and cereals in the 1970s and can only estimate that he collected “a lot” of both. He hasn’t collected regularly since the 70s, but he started the heavy work again about 30 years ago after digging up his childhood cereal toy box.

He mostly abandoned his collecting efforts in 2014, but has since launched a website called cerealoffers.com, where he showcases his niche plays as a major cereal historian. He even managed to make some decent money selling some of his pieces, such as a box of Doctor Who cereal which brought him £400.

With the cereal box toys gone, Symes is one of the key characters who carries on his legacy. It seems money is secondary to the 57-year-old as he believes even today’s children are being deprived because they don’t have the joy of a cereal box-shaped toy .
