The Marvel Boss, Ike Perlmutter, has been fired, confirms new (former) Disney CEO Bob Iger. In an attempt to redirect the course of the company, and incidentally to save billions in 2023, the company has decided to do without, among other things, 7,000 employees. According to The New York Times, they fired visual effects director Victoria Alonso and got rid of the CEO of all Marvel Entertainment.
The whole department becomes dependent on Marvel Studios, controlled by Kevin Feige, and one can imagine that Feige is happy today, since he and Perlmutter have faced each other in the past. At one point, Perlmutter wanted to fire Feige, which led to a public feud, among other things.
Iger commented on the current situation: “The difficult reality of many colleagues and friends leaving Disney is not something we take lightly. This company has the most talented and dedicated employees in the world, and many between you bring a lifelong passion for Disney to your work here. That’s part of what makes working at Disney so special. It also makes it even harder to say goodbye to the wonderful people we care about. I would like to extend my deepest thanks and gratitude to each departing employee for their many contributions and dedication to this beloved company.”
