Logan Paul

Late last year, influencer, YouTuber, and entertainer Logan Paul caused quite a stir when he ordered a box of First Edition Pokémon Card Booster Packs for a whopping $3.5 million.

Not long after that expensive purchase, a few veteran collectors came forward to warn the YouTuber that the cards he ordered might not be entirely genuine. Hearing this, Paul decided to go online to verify his purchase. In doing so, he discovered that the cards were indeed forged.

3.5 million fake

The YouTuber recently released a new video titled “I lost $3,500,000 On Fake Pokémon Cards” released. In it, he explains how he ended up throwing away such a large sum of money on cards that were nowhere near the investment he was hoping for.

In December 2021, Logan Paul revealed that he had treated himself to a “sealed and authenticated” box of first edition booster packs, which most likely contained some extremely rare cards worth big bucks.

It wasn’t long before pundits began questioning Paul’s purchase. Thus, connoisseurs pointed out that the box Paul received did not look like the boxes of a similar set. Also of concern was the fact that the box initially sold for $75,000, well below the auction price.

In search of the truth, Paul made a trip to Chicago to verify his purchase from the Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE).

While the box appeared to be authentic, the contents quickly revealed the true nature of the scam:

It wasn’t filled with rare Pokémon cards, but rather GI Joe trading cards. Paul himself says in his video about the situation:

“I’m a super positive person, bro, and I’ll always be the one to look at the bright side. And I’m trying but this is very hard.”
