Eric Lempel, Senior Vice President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, today unveiled the new PlayStation Playmaker program, which will engage a group of passionate PlayStation fans in pop culture. Sony will be partnering with these celebrities and influencers “on an ongoing basis to celebrate their passion for games and the PlayStation”.

As revealed in a new SIE blog post, Lebron James tops a list of celebrities who have been named PlayStation Playmaker:

- NaLyssa Smith (WNBA Novata All-Star)
- Ja’Marr Chase (NFL star)
- CeeDee Lamb (NFL Star)
- Liza Zimouche (French acrobatic footballer)
- Romelu Lukaku (Belgian footballer)
- Julio Cocielo (Brazilian content creator)
Sony plans to add more names to the list “from the world of gaming, sports, esports and entertainment” and will reveal more information about PlayStation Playmakers on its social media channels. These celebrities will also provide fans with previews and behind-the-scenes access to the games.
Lampel explains that Sony announced this program today because it believes 2023 will be an exciting year for PlayStation fans, especially with the DualSense Edge controller and PSVR 2.
Lebron James along with his son, along with Ben Stiller and John Travolta, appeared in a trailer for “All Parents Can Relate” from God of War Ragnarok. He also appeared as the “King James” character for Fortnite in July 2021.
