Knockout City is revealed today for the first time. The competitive multiplayer game developed by Velan Studios, and inspired by the prisoner ball, has a unique gameplay. We give you some keys to get started in the game.

Knockout City is available today on PlayStation 4 Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. The game from Velan Studios is loosely based on the principle of the ball to the prisoner and offers a nervous game where your reflexes and your speed of execution will be essential to overcome your opponents and make your team win.

We reveal to you some tips to help you get to grips with Knockout City as best as possible.

How many maps are available in Knockout City?

Knockout City currently has 5 maps with a varied level design, each with its own peculiarities: Rooftop brawls, the Concussion Site, le rond-point du KO, Street brawl and Galaxy Burger. Each of these maps requires you to adapt your way of playing and use your environment differently to KO your opponents but also to avoid their throws of fatal balls.

Of tubes transporting you to different points of the map, moving platforms or road traffic forcing you to look left to right before crossing, you will gradually learn to identify the advantages and disadvantages of each of these maps.

What game modes are playable in Knockout City?

Knockout City has 4 different game modes at launch:

  • The classic KO by team won by the first team at 10 KOs in the best of 3 rounds,
  • the diamond race who asks you to steal 30 diamonds from your opponents,
  • the Festive team knockout which replaces the traditional prisoner ball with balloons with special characteristics,
  • finally, the Face to face, a traditional one-on-one showdown.

If you want to take your experience to the next level, the championships will allow you to compete with the best players in Knockout City worldwide. Climbing the ranks in this game mode will earn you Holobux, the currency of the game, but also aesthetic rewards allowing you to customize your character.

What are the different bullets at the prisoner of Knockout City?

In addition to its traditional red prisoner ball, Knockout City has six types of balls with special abilities:

  • The Multiball actually consists of three balloons in one that can be launched successively,
  • the Cage balloon allows you to trap your target inside the ball for a few seconds,
  • the Ballon sniper is the best way to target an opponent who is a little too far away and untouchable in normal times,
  • the Moon balloon changes your gravity and makes you float in the air longer,
  • finally, the Bomb Balloon, as the name suggests, explodes on your opponent on contact: the fuse ignites the moment you pick up the ball and can explode on you if you’re not careful.
