Jedi Knight Remastered version 3.0 has been released. This Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II fan remaster has moved to a new engine, getting better performance and ultra-wide resolution support.

We have great news for Star Wars fans. A new version of the excellent Jedi Knight Remastered mod is out. True to its name, the project is an unofficial remaster of 1997’s iconic Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.

The new edition is numbered 3.0. The previous version was 2.0.1 and such a leap is justified by the scale of the changes. The creators changed the basics of the project. They ditched the previously used JKGFXMOD and instead Jedi Knight Remastered now runs on the much more modern OpenJKDF2.

This change is beneficial. OpenJKDF2 This is because it recreates the game engine in C++. This made it possible to implement many improvements. As a result, Jedi Knight Remastered version 3.0 finally got rid of microstutters, which couldn’t be explained by what was happening on screen (previously, unfortunately, it was a common problem caused by JKGFXMOD). Additionally, creators could implement support for ultra-wide resolutions.

The visual improvements offered by the mod are impressive, especially since the game dates back to 1997.

remember that Jedi Knight Remastered is a real gem that completely refreshes virtually every aspect of the game. We get full compatibility with modern PCs and operating systems, much more detailed character and weapon models, and remastered textures with much higher resolution. Lighting has also been improved, controls and gameplay have been improved, and most bugs have been fixed.

All this completely transforms the old school Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, becoming a game much closer to modern standards, without losing any of its charm.

Finally, it should be mentioned that the author of the mod also developed the Mysteries of the Sith Remastered mod, which is an analogous project for the DLC of the game. This project is currently only available in version 2.0, but soon it will will also be ported to the new engine and updated to 3.0.
