Team Fortress 2 fans celebrate the announcement of a major update. Of course, Valve will be asking fans for help, but it’s preparing more than just a standard summer update.

Team Fortress 2 fans have been praying to Gabe Newell for years and it seems like they’ve finally been heard. Valve promises that the popular free-to-play shooter is getting a major update this summer.

But before the fanfare goes off, let’s make one point clear. The company has asked fans active on the Steam Workshop to prepare content for this update and submit their suggestions by May 1. In other words, it’s the players who will prepare the official summer update for TF2.

So we could be forgiven for thinking that Valve won’t actually have a hand in creating this “major update.” However, few people pay attention to this “minor” detail.

Not surprising, given the communication with the game’s fans so far, even after a programmer was rumored to be hired to fix the game and numerous minor fixes were released. The bot invasion (only partially stopped by subsequent updates) and last year’s big leak didn’t inspire optimism about Team Fortress 2’s future either.

That’s why most fans are happy that Valve (i.e. janitor and potted plant, as according to players it’s the entire “dev team” of the game) was able to release an article on the TF2 blog. The humorous tone and the promise of a “big update” is more than what players have received in the last five years.

More importantly, however, the message mentions that this year’s update will be much richer in content than last summer’s updates for team strength 2. Not only will new cosmetic items (including taunts and uncommon rare specimens) be added to the game, but cards and “items” will also be added to the game.

By the way, it doesn’t stop there, as the developers suggest that the update may introduce other new features to TF2. And furthermore, Valve said it remains “so far unnamed and unthemed”. So it looks like it won’t really be the “standard summer 2023 update”.

Some players even have the illusion that this is how the mythical Heavy Update will finally be implemented. The Russian lover of big guns (and literature) lost his battle with Pyro in 2016, but was still expected to get his own update right after the enthusiastic swagger. Meanwhile, it’s been over five years since Hell in the Jungle was released, and Valve hasn’t even hinted that they remember it.

So far, there is no indication that it will be the Heavy Update that will arrive this summer. However, Fans are hoping the summer update will introduce what most fans have been waiting for: new weapons. After all, there’s no shortage of interesting, fun, or, presumably, weird weapon ideas on the Steam Workshop.

The only question is whether Valve will want to introduce such “complicated” additions to the code of Team Fortress 2, which has made a name for itself over the years as “Spaghetti Source” (with a hint of coconut; experts know what that means). means). )? What if he adds something himself or just accepts fan creations?
