Whether you’re a complete runner-up or someone who’s played Dead Cells in the past, the Return to Castlevania DLC should be available the next time you boot up the game. After entering the prisoner’s chambers, head to the door that leads to the rooms where enemies spawn. After leaving the spawning area, a scene of flying red bats will occur. Continue through the first step as usual; Eventually, you’ll meet Vampire Hunter Richter Belmont in a stairwell. After this encounter, the next area you will enter will be Castle Outskirts, the first stage of the Return to Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells.

On the other hand, if you’re new to Dead Cells or new to saving, you need to complete a requirement to unlock and start the Return to Castlevania DLC. After starting a new game, you will encounter the Tutorial Knight for the first time. The first time The Headless One dies, he’ll find you in the first room of the prisoners’ quarters. If you die again, he will teach you the flask system. After this dialog, entering the sewers will trigger the red bat scene, indicating that you have access to the Return to Castlevania DLC in Dead Cell.
