In its current form, Sons of the Forest only takes a few hours to beat if you focus on progression. This should come as no surprise to gamers who have eagerly dove into the title from Steam’s early access program, but it shouldn’t be taken to mean there’s no content in Sons of the Forest either. . Players can spend hours exploring the brilliant building system, talking to NPCs and gaining their trust, and simply chopping off cannibals’ heads. It’s great fun, but you’ll only need one to reach the secret ending of Sons in the Forest.

How many endings does Sons of the Forest have?
Sons of the Forest has three different endings, though the changes between the three are minor at best. The first two endings are standard: Upon exiting the strange box, you’ll be teleported to the beach where a helicopter awaits, while your bag is on the beach behind you. Climbing into the helicopter or walking to its bag will unlock a unique achievement ending. However, there is a third achievement that can be a little more difficult to obtain. To unlock the secret ending you will need Kelvin to be alive and Virginia to trust you as a partner and live to the end.

This can be tricky, as Virginia is aggressive once the pistol/shotgun combo is offered to her, meaning you’ll have to chase her down in melee more often than not, but she can also deal healthy damage. If you have both allies, you will receive the “Keep Your Friends Close” achievement when you all board the helicopter together. If you received this achievement first, you’ll need to kill one to get both standard endings.
