If you’ve played Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on PS1, you’ll definitely remember Flipendo, the first spell Harry learned during the adventure. That, and Hagrid’s oddly shaped face. With the Flipendo spell, you can push blocks and activate mechanisms to damage enemies, making it the most basic and valuable “attack”. Well, that same spell is in Hogwarts Legacy. This is how you can get this precious spell.

Unlock Flipendo in Hogwarts Legacy

You can unlock Flipendo after completing Professor Garlick’s second task. During this task, you will have to grow and harvest a Fluxweed, buy all three combat plants and use them simultaneously.

First you need to buy a Fluxweed seed and grow it in the Room of Requirement. Then wait for it to bloom and pick it up. As for the “three combat plants”, you need to buy and use a poisonous tentacle, a mandrake and a chewing Chinese cabbage. You can buy them all at Dogweed & Deathcap, north of Hogsmeade. Remember to use all three simultaneously.

Once you complete this task, you will get the Flipendo spell, which you can use to flip enemies/items. Avalanche Software didn’t want to miss the opportunity to pay homage to one of the most beloved spells in Harry Potter video games.

Flipping spells from previous Harry Potter games

Harry Potter games have been around since 2001. Additionally, Hogwarts Legacy offers 34 spells. So there are very few spells that weren’t introduced in previous entries. Some recurring spells you can try with your custom wand are Alohomora, to open locks; Accio, to call your broom; and Revelio, to reveal nearby objects. Even the star spells of the Harry Potter movies, like Avada Kedavra, return in Hogwarts Legacy.
