Sons of the Forest lets you acquire several melee weapons, which can be used to take down cannibals and mutants. However, the ax is a melee weapon that also helps in chopping down trees. Where to find the fire ax in Sons of the Forest
It will take some time before you can get your hands on the fire axe, as you need to get the shovel first. Many objects are hidden in the ground and you need the shovel to access them. In order to get the Shovel, you will first need to acquire the Recycler and Rope Gun. Without these two objects, you will not be able to cross the cave which contains the shovel.
With the shovel in your inventory, go to the location shown in the image below. This one is located on the west side of the forest. As the journey can be long depending on where you start, make sure you have a few essentials like food and water in your inventory. When you get there, look for a golf cart. Right next to it you will see an option to dig the ground with the shovel.

After you finish digging, you will see the entrance to a bunker. Use the stairs to go down and then continue down the hall. Keep going until you reach a small room where the fire ax will be on the wall.
Like the modern axe, the fire ax is an excellent melee weapon that can help you against powerful enemies. Also, the fire ax can chop down trees instantly, which means it can help you collect a lot of logs.
