Crafting is a big part of what you’ll do as you progress through Fallout 76. After all, you need to craft your own weapons, armor, and camp items. Later in the game you will start to need more materials to get materials only from specific areas. One of these objects is the Hardened Mass. These items are the easiest to find, but they’re necessary if you want to start crafting with flux. This guide will show you how to get Hardened Dough in Fallout 76.
Where to find Hardened Dough in Fallout 76
While Hardened Mass isn’t the only material you’ll need to craft with flux, it’s one of the hardest materials to find. Keep in mind that you will also need to source materials such as high radiant fluids. To get Hardened Mass, you must first wait for a nuke to drop or drop one yourself, which is much easier said than done.

Dropping a nuke requires a lot of items, and you also need to complete the main campaign of the game. After you manage to collect all the necessary items and pass through one of the silos, you can drop a nuke. When the nuke lands, it will create an explosion area which will be filled with high level irradiated enemies. These enemies are unplayable if you are unprepared and at a high enough level.

Hardened Mace can only be obtained from enemies killed in explosion areas. After defeating an enemy, be sure to check their inventory to see if they have any Hardened Maces. This material is used to convert the raw stream collected from the various plants in a blasting area into a stable stream. Without a stable stream, items like Ultracite Ammunition and Mutation Serums cannot be crafted.
